24/7 Utility Emergency
Please call 901.528.4465 if you have an emergency. You can report gas leaks, electric wires down, broken water mains inside buildings, and unsafe street barricades.
Emergency Utility Assistance
Provides online form to request payment extension for utility bills beyond current due dates. If already cut off, customer must pay cut-off amount in full and is not eligible for special payment arrangement. Customers requesting extensions must have received cut-off notices within 10 days of calling and pay 25% of balances within 4 days after due dates of cutoff notices. Balances are extended for up to eight days past cut-off dates. Exceptions to these guidelines are available to customers with proof of temporary financial hardship caused by unemployment, hospitalization, or death of family member. May request payment extension by calling 901.544.6549 or by walking into any MLGW office.

Provides money for rent/utility/medical bills or other needed financial assistance for residents of Memphis through different Catholic Churches when funding is available. Services include undesignated temporary financial assistance, medical expense assistance, utility service payment assistance, rent payment assistance, mortgage payment assistance.

Provides utility assistance as funding is available to Shelby County residents with past-due or cutoff notices or who have had their utilities cut off who meet low-income guidelines and have one of the following in the household: adult ages 60 and over, adult or child with disability, child under the age of 6, unavoidable emergency or loss of income within last 90 days causing difficulty paying utility bill. If you haven't had assistance since the previous October, you can apply for emergency or regular utility assistance. Shelby County CSA only pays the portion of MLGW bill that covers electricity and gas, will not pay for deposits and no longer pays reconnect fees to get utilities turned back on.

Provides low-cost home Internet service to qualifying households.
Lifeline is a government-sponsored program that provides a free phone and 250 minutes per month for individuals that receive any public assistance program such as food stamps, Medicaid/TennCare, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), National Free School Lunch, or Federal Housing/Section 8 Assistance.
City of Memphis Services
Provides a city government information line which accepts citizen complaints and questions about city services, refers concerns to proper agencies and tracks the progress of responses to citizen concerns for the city of Memphis.
